We have more popular and well known spots to fly fish in our area featured on our Local Information Page.
For this blog we are featuring a local fishery at Helwith Bridge just under 4 miles from the guest house as it deserves some recognition.
Set in the spender of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and close to the Settle to Carlisle railway and under the shadows of Pen-Y-Ghent peak
A spring fed lake makes a great local spot for all levels of fly fishing, from the beginner (which Chris has experienced a day fly fishing with a local regular with some guidance and instruction which was on a casual basis)
Easy access with a free car park, close to the road and Lake
Local pub just a short 5 minute walk away serves food and is CAMRA for that pint of real Yorkshire and Local ale. Or use the Fishing Hut with Wood burner and a cooker for a brew of the tea/coffee variety!
Importantly a Toilet and Life Buoys
Highly recommended by locals to either take up their tuition by arrangement or purchase a day ticket
They’re very well kept fish (some hard fighting too) including various trout – triploid, blue, golden and rainbow from 2pound to 14pound. Good variety of local fly and surroundings hold other wildlife. Barn owls, deer and other predatory birds. Mostly seen before nightfall and sunrise
Open all Year round – 7 days a week and open from 8am till Dark.
