Settle’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration 2022
We kicked off the weekend by un-veiling “Kyla” the Eagle above the front door with the royal bunting, as we all know the Queen loves the Palace :)
The action then moved into the town square for the various activities organised by various groups and organisations of Settle. We had “Post Cards to the Palace” – “Painting Portraits of the Queen” – “Make a Jubilee Flag” – “Photo of yourself as the Queen & Prince Philip” – as well as Local groups U3A and ACE. Settle Fire Crew to name a few. We were treated to the “Queen’s Parade” including a Fancy Dress entourage! Not forgetting our very own Town Crier – aka Ann from Victoria Hall to open the festivities officially.
Later on in the afternoon the Giggleswick and Settle Brass Band were holding a concert in the garden of the Talbot Arms – never seen so many local folk enjoying the music and time for a social chat and a few pints or a even tea! Ending the event with God Save the Queen.
Note: Due to Copyright issues on the “Floral Dance” the audio is missing ! – shame as they did sound good :)
Finally the day ended in the evening with the lighting of the Beacon on the top of Castleberg Crag at the back of the guest house, with prime position to hear the Piper clearly. Then with the beacon lit not far from the flag pole it was a fitting finale to a special day.
