Private Balcony in Town – views of Castleberg Crag
When you book our only twin bedded room “Old Peculier” apart from a fab shower en-suite, this bedroom is on the first floor at the rear of the house overlooking Settle’s Iconic “Castleberg Crag”. Due to the large window that overlooks this view we have made the balcony that is a feature in the foreground private use for the guests that book this particular room. It is accessed via another door on the same floor and during the early morning up until late lunchtime in the spring/summer/autumn months the sun may well shine and create quite a sun trap!

We therefore have provided a large parasol to get a bit of shade if needed, along with a table and chairs for use to. Its the only outside space available and we ask guests to respect the neighbours due to the close proximity to other buildings as we are in a town after all.
The views are very quaint whether you are looking up Victoria street, past another old landmark of Settle – The Folly (Cafe and Museum) of taking in the Castleberg Crag itself. Sometimes on the Crag you will see climbers going up the side of the rock using the pre-made bolt holes. There are several routes to the top.
Personnally we prefer to take the walking route which is accessed at the back of the property on to a small lane at the rear. Go through the wooden gate next to the scout hut there are trails to the top – getting lost is not an option but decent footware is, as there are a few boulder rocks near the summit. Once at the top you will see great views to and take a moment to spot this balcony which hosts the Twin Room of Old Peculier.
