Caving at Ribblehead

Thanks to Jude for an invitation from Clapham Adventure to do morning’s introduction to Caving at the Ribblehead Viaduct. We were given some nice red and blue suits to wear, complete with hard hats and willies we did look the part!

Our guide Jude took us across the moorland little do you realise the world of caves that is below us!  We arrived at a few rocks and there was a cave ahead. On went the light on our hats and we crawled through into our first cave, it wasn’t long until we could stand up and walk along, the water below was rushing around our feet! There was a bit of stooping and squeezing but I was surprised on how much room there was. The caves are really beautiful and amazing to learn about their history. In total we did three different decents into caves.  We would recommend it to anyone who fancies giving it a go – makes a change from walking above ground as there is another world underneath the Dales!
