There is no better place than Settle to base yourslef if you want to visit some of the Yorkshire Dales waterfalls.
There are a couple of beauties that can be reached from walking from our front door. Scaleber Force is around 2miles away (you can drive to it as well). This stunning 40ft waterfull nestles in a Nature Reserve Woodland and can be viewed from both the top and the bottom – a real favourite with photographers
The next gem is a little further away near the village of Stainforth – Catrigg Force, this is accessed along an off road track, and footpath. This hidden gem is found in a wooded gorge and loved by everyone that visits.
We can’t talk about waterfalls without mentioning Stainforth Foss – this is a small one but has the added feature that during October it is made famous for the “Salmon-Jumping” leaping up the River Ribble!
Also a great spot for Wild Swimming here on the River Ribble. 3 Miles north of Settle.
Malham is 6 miles from Settle and is home to “Janet’s Foss” this beautiful waterfall drops into a deep pool and is popular with swimmers. Back in the day a useful sheep dip for local farmers!
If one waterfull is not enough for you then you can go on a walk at Ingleton (10miles from Settle) and enjoy the spectacular Waterfalls Walk. There is a charge of £8 per adult – we did the walk a few years back Ingleton Waterfalls Trail and its worth the entry fee.
