Long Distance Walks or Cycle?

Here in Settle we are in a position close to many long distance walks and cycles which means we at King William welcome guests taking them on what ever the weather!

Some chose to stay more than one night and use the railway to access the onward journey – this saving packing up the bags again and moving on!

Walks

Dales Highway

This one is far the most popular walk that comes through, starting in Saltaire this 90mile hike finishes in Appleby taking in both the Dales and Howgills along the way.

Pennine Journey

For the more adventurous walker this 3 week walk starts and finishes in Settle, inspired by SirAlfred Wainwright this 211 mile journey follows the walk through the Pennines he took in 1938

Settle to Carlisle

Whilst many people come to Settle to enjoy the journey on the Railway up to Carlisle some even walk it  – this 97mile hike is a classic!

Cycle Routes

Way of the Roses

Starting on the west coast in Morcombe this ride has become very popular for a long distance trip over to Bridlington on the East Coast of Yorkshire. The ride has been devised by Sustran’s using roads and lanes with very little traffic and some parts are traffic free using cycle lanes and old railway lines

Pennine Bridleway

This is an off road route only suitable for people using Mountain or Gravel Bikes due to the nature of the trails. Follows old pack horse routes across the Hills of the Pennines. This 205 mile route starts in Middleton Top in Derbyshire finishing in Kirby Stephen in Cumbria

If carrying all your luggage is too much why not get Brigantes to move it all for you!
