Thank you for choosing to book with the King William the fourth Guest House in Settle.

When you make a booking you will be entering an agreement with us with the terms and conditions as follows.

Prices: Includes accommodation and breakfast, single occupancy rates must be noted in your booking notes if applicable.

The following rooms (Flying Herbert, Fuggles, Theakstons, and Old Peculier) can accommodate a ‘Roll away-bed’ – £20 Supplement (check availability by phone)

Children over five years old are welcome

Pets: as per our Pet Policy at £5 per pet per night maximum 2 Dogs.

Payment Method:

Deposits: must be made in advance* of arrival by Cash, Cheque or Bank Transfer – Bank Details included on your provisional email booking. Card details are taken over the phone and keyed directly into the PDQ Machine; we do not hold details on our computer systems.

We prefer to take payment via Debit Cards over Credit cards.

We do not accept American Express or Diners Card or Pay Pal.

*advance in relation to the period between the time the booking was made and subsequent booking confirmation by payment of the deposit.  “Long Term Bookings” – Deposits need to be paid 8 weeks in advance. “Short Term Bookings” – Deposits need to be paid within 1 week in advance. “Immediate Bookings” – Deposits need to be made over the phone or Bank Transfer only.

Once you have booked your stay and paid the 30% Deposit, our agreement is a legal contract and this deposit is non-refundable.

If you need to cancel please contact us immediately. For cancellations made up to three weeks before your booking you will not be liable for the total balance. For cancellations made after this time or by failing to take up the booking without cancelling you will be liable for the total amount.

Final Balance: is made on check-out can be made by Cash or Card (Not American Express)

Non-Availability: We would only cancel your booking if your accommodation was unavailable for reasons beyond our control. We would attempt to offer alternative accommodation, however if this is not possible, or unacceptable to you then we would refund all monies paid to you. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund.

Check In / Check Out:

Guests are welcome to arrive after 4.30pm (or before 12.30pm by prior arrangement) please contact us if you will be arriving beyond 9pm. Rooms must be vacated by 11.00 a.m. on the day of departure.

If you are using a baggage transfer service, please advise us so that we can contact them to make the necessary arrangements.

Privacy Policy

The privacy and security of your information is very important to us. We want you to trust that the information that you have provided to us is being properly managed and protected when booking a room with us.

We have prepared this Privacy Statement to explain more about how we collect and manage your information.

Third party cookies: We do not use any third party service providers to help us manage, carry out and improve our advertising.

Managing cookies and opting out: You can choose to visit our web sites without cookies, but in some cases certain services, features and functionality may not be available. To visit without cookies, you can configure your browser to reject all cookies or notify you when a cookie is set. Each browser is different, so check the “Help” menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences.

Other technologies: We do not use any other technologies such as pixels and web beacons on our website, mobile applications,  or email messages for marketing efforts.

Targeted advertising: We don’t do this through our website or email, however from time to time if you have liked our social media pages we may appear on your screen.

We are committed to protecting the confidentiality and security of the information that you provide to us. To do this, technical, physical and organisational security measures are put in place to protect against any unauthorised access, disclosure, damage or loss of your information. The collection, transmission and storage of information can never be guaranteed to be completely secure, however, we take steps to ensure that appropriate security safeguards are in place to protect your information.

Managing your preferences and information

We want to ensure that you have the necessary tools at your disposal to control the information that you provide to us, including how we communicate with you. It is also important that you contact us to update your information if any of it is inaccurate or changes. We respect your privacy so please email us direct to update, modify and delete your information. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe.

Please note that in some instances it may not be possible to delete certain pieces of your information and a portion of the information may be needed for suppression purposes. In other instances, we may not have the ability to delete certain pieces of information that are stored on our systems or that have been provided to third parties in connection with the services discussed in this Privacy Statement.

Information we collect
and how we use and share it

We collect and use personal information if you make a booking through our reservation system (Holiday Bookings Online Ltd are fully GDPR compliant if you need a copy of their policy email us direct)

We generally collect this information directly from you, but in some cases we may collect your information from other sources.  For example, we occasionally we use Booking.com, and other travel agents.  In these cases we always ask guests to make sure anyone they refer is happy for their personal information to be passed to us, and to direct friends to read this privacy policy if they want to find out more about how we use their information. We also ask on check-in through our Registration card to tick a box if you are happy for us to send ONE email asking to review our guest house through Tripadvisor.

The legal basis for processing your personal data

We are committed to collecting and using your information in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

We will only collect, use and share your information where we are satisfied that we have an appropriate legal basis to do this.

This may be because:

  • you have provided your consent to us using the personal information;
  • our use of your information is necessary to perform our contract with you, for example, making and managing your booking
  • our use of your information is necessary to meet responsibilities we have to our regulators, tax officials, law enforcement, or otherwise meet our legal responsibilities;
  • our use of your information is in our legitimate interest as a commercial organisation.
