Local Information

The Area

Settle is an historic market town nestled at the foot of the Pennines. The bustling square is home to regular markets every Tuesday and a farmer's market on the first Sunday of every month. The area boasts a wealth of spectacular scenery including one of the largest northern outcrops of limestone pavements and expansive gritstone moorland. Caves, waterfalls, potholes and the Three Peaks Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent attract thousands of visitors every year. There are plenty of eateries in the Settle area including cafes, bars, resturants and pubs that offer a fine selection of cusine to suit every palette and pocket. Settle is also home to the Settle - Carlisle railway and throughout the summer there are steam specials laid on. Two of our rooms have direct views to the imposing and historic limestone outcrop known as Castleberg Crag that dominates the town.

The town is surrounded by attractive Dales villages. Giggleswick with its renowned public school and Chapel, Austwick, Clapham, Langcliffe and Stainforth are nearby. Malham with its limestone pavement and cove and Ingleton with its stunning waterfall and caves area are both within easy reach.
